I had Bluehost from 2000-2006. I found that they did have decent uptime and customer support was fairly decent on the phone. I also found that many of the PHP sctipts that I had purchased online during that time period would not work because Bluehost was overly restrictive with their settings.

However, what really ticked me off with Bluehost and the reason I went to HostGator was a situation in 2006 where someone was spamming using my account. Instead of calling me, emailing me, or warning me, Bluehost simply shut down all my websites without warning! Not cool.

The Sick Submitter is a product from Sick Marketing that allows you to post your links in forum profiles. It’s no secret that in general, the more links you have, the more the search engines will like you. One of the several methods out there to get links to your website is by getting profiles at forums and then putting a link to your website in the forum’s “about me” section. Some people do consider this a “blackhat” technique and question whether it works long term. And yes, the forum owners do sometimes get a little ticked off about people who build a profile and then take off.

The next problem of course is the fact that building a lot of forum profiles can be extremely time consuming. Then you still have yet another problem of needing to find out where the fourms actually are. Yes, you can buy link packets but that can add to your costs. Yes, you can and should outsource the task of profile building but that can get expensive when your worker is building the profiles by hand.

That’s where the Sick Submitter comes in. You put in your information and load up a list and click on a button to create a profile. Then, you hit submit and it starts making profiles. It even works with the captcha breaking programs like Decaptcher so you don’t have to enter the captchas.

The Ultimate Search Engine Loophole is a report and guide written by Dave Kelly and Chris Rempel. It outlines a loophole in the MSN search engine. They claim that if you apply the techniques in their report that you will rank highly in MSN for nearly any keyword that you wish.

But why MSN when Google gets the big traffic? The problem according to Dave and Chris is that Google is too unpredictable. They change their ranking algorithm nearly daily. MSN is much more of an old school search engine.  Once you figure it out, you can rank again and again and again.

But does it work? By all accounts that I have noticed, yes it does! I have seen sites at the top and sure enough, they are using the techniques that are described in this report.

Who is this report good for?

Without giving away the whole report, I will tell you that for best results, you will need to know how to set up WordPress blogs to make this work right. You will need to get multiple ip hosting designed for SEO. You can get this for as little as $20/month from SEO Host. This whole process can be outsourced very easily if you wish. I’ve seen reliable people on Odesk that will do this blog stuff for as little as $5 an hour.  So, if you don’t know how to set up WordPress blogs very fact that’s another option.

They also highly recommend getting the Caffeinated Content plugin for WordPress and a link rotation script. It definitely makes that job a lot easier, but there are free ways around this if you are on a tight budget.

Evidence suggests that this method WON’T be short-lived, simply because of the incredible scale that Dave has been using it for several years now.

A: Not at all.

First of all, even if 10,000 people buy this, only a small fraction of them will even try it, let alone use it to corner their target markets. This isn’t something that we “depend on” or anything, but it is a fact. Hell, I’ve bought tons of products that are truly excellent – but I’ve just never had the time to get started with the process or method (and probably never will).

So very few people will actually tap into this strategy, by their own choice. Even though it’s basically a golden goose for anyone who wants to “mine” it.

Second – and most importantly – there are millions of high-traffic, profitable keyphrases out there, spread across literally tens of thousands of markets.

Anyone who tells you otherwise is full of crap.

There is no “cap” on opportunity here. That’s like saying that everything’s already been thought of online, or that there’s too much competition in a market, etc.

All complete rubbish.

That doesn’t mean you won’t get a LOT of traffic. In fact, if your title tag is compelling, relevant and “eye-grabbing”, you can sometimes get more traffic than sites listed above you. Marketing 101 still applies. A title tag is, in essence, a “headline”.

So no – there’s no shortage or potential saturation of keyword availability. Take a moment to think about how many markets truly exist out there. It’s endless…

HostGator has been around a while now and is quite popular with the internet marketing community. HostGator is certainly not perfect, but I like them most of the time. They were one of the first companies to allow people to host unlimited websites and once I hit 5 websites in around 2005 or so that became quite handy. BlueHost is the only other hosting company that I’ve used and I’ve noticed that HostGator is generally more lenient about using php scripts than  Bluehost is.

You can host your site almost anywhere and usually the service is pretty much the same when things are going well.  There area where you will really tell a good host from a bad host is when things go wrong.  HostGator really shines in their area of security. I have been hacked before and HostGator was able to get me back online fairly quickly. I know of others who used different hosting companies who lost their entire website after a hacking incident. Not so with HostGator.

When I was on BlueHost, I had a situation where someone was using my ip address for spamming. Instead of asking me about it, they terminated me with no rhyme or reason. I’ve heard other hosts will pull similar shananigans. I’ve never had this problem with HostGator.

Just a word of warning though. While I am impressed with HostGator itself, I’m not impressed with their multiple ip service, SEOHosting.com. I don’t know if it’s the server or what but my sites hosted on there constantly load slow.

So in summary, HostGator regular accounts, great and fast. SeoHosting accounts, too slow.

Google Maps Cash is a course by Chad Kimball to show you how to use Google Maps (now called Google Places) effectively. Google Places can be a source of free traffic to your site, especially if you have a local business.

Don’t think that it’s just for local though. As Chad mentions in the training, you can also use Google Places to promote affiliate products. In his example, he uses “dog training” to get listed under a dog trainer and sell a Clickbank book. What’s the deal with everyone using “dog training” as their example. Need a new example people!

If you don’t want to promote Clickbank products, build a local blog around locally oriented keyphrases and then optimize it for Google Places. Then, either sell the leads locally (more work but more money) or sign up as an affiliate for someone like ServiceMagic (no selling but less payout). This is exactly what I’m doing with my Dayton Contractors Network website.

Chad’s course is video based and it works. If you think that you can just submit a listing and wait, you are totally mistaken. It’s a bit more work than that and Chad shows you step by step what to do.

Less than a month after doing the training, I designed a site for a local business coach. It’s now #1 in Google Places for “business coach Dayton Ohio.” The other listings were totally knocked off the map!

Just think about how many business owners don’t have an optimized Google Places listing and how you can make money by showing them how to get listed there. Offline guru Tim Castleman is suggesting charging local business owners $700 for an optimized Google Places listing. Even if you only charge them $200, it’s quite a profit margin for something that’s quite easy to do (especially if you outsource it).

My only complaint about Google Maps Cash is that it doesn’t have a pdf to follow along. That would have been handy. All in all it’s a quality program and it actually works.

Mike Dillard is a pioneer in the field of promoting network marketing online. His most famous course is a book called Magnetic Sponsoring. The premise behind Magnetic Sponsoring is that people follow YOU as opposed to your company. Therefore, you should promote YOURSELF first in everything that you do.

He has some very valid points. A lot of what he says has however been taken way out of context. Mike is a genius at using the internet to generate leads and showing others how to do the same. However, a lot of marketers think that this means they no longer have to use the phone to market. This is completely false! In later interviews, Mike does correct himself and says that the phone is and should be a useful tool in network marketing. Unfortunately, too many people want the easy way out and won’t follow his advice.

Mike also promotes a new strategy called GPT or Get Paid Today. It basically says that traditional MLM is dead and you should instead do the Aussie 2 Ups. He fails to mention that the Aussie 2 Up type companies are very expensive, have caused more lawsuits than anyone and are constantly under FTC investigation. So, why would you want to join a company like that?? Look, if you don’t like MLM, that’s fine. Go do affiliate marketing instead.

Still, overall Mike gives some great advice and Magnetic Sponsoring should be in the toolchest of any serious network marketer.

Todd Falcone is a network marketing trainer that specializes in teaching people how to cold call professionals to recruit them into a network marketing.

Todd offers a free conference call and free You Tube videos. His conference calls are great. His You Tube videos are hilarious! I especially love the live dials that he does. His calls may be a little TOO good. When I bought his insider secrets course, it basically said the same things that were on the calls. For “finding” realtors, he said profound things like, “look them up on Google” No kidding! I ended up selling my “Insider Secrets To Calling Professionals” course on Ebay and got most of my money back.

However, I found his Black Book of Scripts to be a very underrated product in Todd’s catalog. Worth every penny and then some. It would cost you hundreds of dollars to get these scripts from other trainers.

Ted Thomas does infomercials about tax deed/tax lien investing among other things. I bought one of his courses several years ago.

When, I first got it my first thought was, “this is it?”. It had a lot of very generic information about tax liens. I mean VERY. No real meat to go with. I’ve heard that his seminars are pretty much a sham as well.

There is money to be made in tax liens, as I later did find out. Ted is just not the source to get it from.

I’ve looked on various forums and many, many, many people have said the same thing about ol Ted.

If you are new to tax liens, instead get a book called The 16% Solution by Joel Moskowitz. It’s the best $16 you will ever spend.

Wendy teaches about lease option buying.  She promotes something called “sandwich leasing”. A sandwich lease is where she gets one lease option from the seller and then does another lease option with the buyer. It’s an interesting concept. I bought her course, but never did complete a deal. Honestly, I it’s probably my fault as I didn’t apply myself enough to the process.

Wendy is a sweet lady and does like to help her students. One time, I sent her brownies for Christmas and she did call me personally to thank me. I was shocked when she did that. It meant a lot to me.

One thing that I didn’t like from Wendy was her affiliation with a Florida condo buying group trip during the height of the real estate bubble. I was very skeptical about the whole promotion and sure enough those people lost a lot of money on the deal.

Still, Wendy is quite loved by the investor community. Here are some comments that I found about Wendy…
